EVIQO EVIPOWER GEN 2 Home EV Charging Station Review — Plus Video

Last Updated on: 20th June 2025, 02:58 am

We recently received an EVIQO Level 2 home charging station. As many of you know, I’ve only had Level 1 charging via a normal 120V electricity outlet for the past few years (and no home charging before that). I’ve been happy to have only that so that I can point out to people that you don’t need any extra power capacity or hardware to have an electric vehicle. I think that most people don’t realize this. However, there’s no doubt about it — a Level 2 home EV charging station is much more convenient. So, when we got the chance to review an EVIQO EVIPOWER GEN 2 charging station, I decided to finally have a 240V outlet put into my garage in order to hook this up.

Collectively, we have reviewed numerous EV charging stations over the years, and I’ve used a variety of stations in the US and Europe. In all honesty, I love the EVIPOWER GEN 2 and couldn’t really ask for more.

Starting with the basics, it’s got a super sleek, cool, and seemingly durable design. It doesn’t have too much extra on it, but it looks modern and high tech. I can’t see any likely breaking points or durability concerns.

Getting to the fancier elements, I have to start with the light. The colorful lights are really fun and cool. Additionally, they communicate to you what the charger is doing — if it’s ready to charge, if it’s charging, if it was charging and is now done charging. Really, though, it just looks cool.

Once you get to using it, well, it’s super simple. You plug in and it gets to work charging. Beyond that basic option, though …

Using the EVIQO app, you can schedule charging — on a routine or in one-off sessions. This is especially useful for scheduling your charging to take advantage of low electricity rates. Many utility districts have time-of-use (TOU) pricing, and they’re typically in the middle of the night. So, you can set a schedule to just charge at those times. Then, when you get home, you can simply plug in and leave the charging to the intelligence of the EVIQO system.

There’s also all the fun tracking stuff you can do on the app. You can view the charging duration, energy use (kWh), and estimated cost for any individual sessions. Examining the data further, you can look at the totals for those things across one week, one month, 3 months, or all time. Live, you can also view voltage, power (kW), and amperage, and you can adjust the amperage if you’d like.

Furthermore, you can get notifications of various sorts — when charging starts, when it finishes, and for various details of the charging session.

As I said, there’s not really anything else I can think to ask from it, and everything seems to work very well. The user interface on the app is nicely designed and easy to use.

Being a Level 2 charging station, the EVIPOWER GEN 2 charges up my Tesla Model 3 quite quickly — much quicker than the Level 1 charging system from Tesla that I was used to.

Oh yeah, and as far as installing the charging station, that was super easy. Instructions come in the box, but you basically drill holes in the wall where you want to hang the unit (somewhere near a 240V outlet of course) and also drill holes for the spot you want the connector holder. Then you hang them on the wall, plug the charger into a 240V outlet, and they’re ready for use.

The input cable is 3.1 ft long, the longest on the market. The output cable is 25 ft long, the longest legally permitted.

Overall, I love the EVIQO EVIPOWER GEN 2 charging station. I love the design and look of the station, especially when the lights are off in the garage and it’s glowing like Iron Man’s heart, and I also love the app design and usability. I can’t even think about something to complain about. Maybe that the cable is quite thick and heavy, but that has to be expected for this kind of power, and it’s super easy to use anyway — even my young daughters don’t have a problem with it.

You can learn much more about it in the video review below.

The EVIQO EVIPOWER GEN 2 was provided to us by EVIQO free of charge, but all opinions are 100% genuine and my own.
